March 2026
February was sleepless, and the start of March was no better. Rory was still waking at every sleep cycle. We decided to do some gentle sleep training, with me doing most of the settles to avoid triggering too many night feeds. It seems to have actually worked! We are not totally out of the woods yet, but we are down to typically three wakes a night, and have even had a couple of full nights sleep! Over the next couple of months we will work on getting the wake window shortened so that we can rest.
In February I organised two JavaScript meetups. We held a GlasgowJS on refactoring and removing code, and an EdinburghJS with talks on Playwright, removing Styled Components and npmx. We are on a break in April, but will be back with more events in May.
We’ve tried to do a bit more with the boys now the days are getting a bit longer, and Rory’s daytime feeding and nap schedule provide more opportunities. We went to the zoo for the first time in a while, alongside park visits and playdates.
At the end of the month I went and camped at Beinglas Campsite for some hiking with Aileen. It was nice to get away for a couple of days, catch up with Aileen, and have some time to myself.
Reading
This month I read:

It’s tricky to find time to read at the moment!
See you in April 👋
